Delete your account
Last updated: 13 September 2026
This page explains how to delete your Addola account, and exactly what we
delete when you do. It applies to the Addola app on Android
(com.addola.app) and iOS, published by Addola Ltd.
It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and why, and our Terms of Service. Where this page describes what happens to your data, it says the same thing as section 5 of the Privacy Policy in more detail.
1. Delete your account in the app
This is the fastest way. It takes effect immediately, and you do not need to contact us.
- Open Addola and sign in.
- Go to Profile.
- Select Delete account.
- Confirm when you are asked. We sign you in again first, to check it is you.
You cannot undo this. We delete your account and the lists you own straight away. There is no recovery period and no restore.
2. Ask us to delete your account by email
Use this route if you cannot open the app, or you no longer have the device you signed in on.
Send an email to privacy@addola.app with the subject Account deletion request. Send it from the email address on the Addola account, so that we can confirm the request is yours. If you cannot use that address, tell us and we will ask you for other proof.
We complete the deletion within one month, which is the limit UK GDPR sets. In practice we do it much sooner. We email you when it is done.
3. What we delete, and what stays
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile | Deleted. This covers your email address, name, date of birth if you gave one, and your profile photo. |
| Lists and items you own | Deleted, with everything in them. |
| Lists owned by somebody else that you joined | The list itself is kept, and stays with its owner. We remove you as a member. Items linked to you are deleted from that list — anything you added, anything assigned to you, and anything you ticked off. Tell the list owner before you delete your account if that content matters to them. |
| Your device push token | Deleted. Notifications stop. |
| Usage data, if you turned on “Help improve Addola” | The App stops sending it. By the next day we ask our analytics processor, PostHog, to delete it. PostHog removes your profile at once and your usage data in its next weekly deletion run, and it is deleted within 30 days. Copies can remain in PostHog’s encrypted backups until those backups expire. This happens whichever way you delete your account. |
| Subscription records | We delete our copy. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own transaction records, because tax law and their own terms require it. Cancel the subscription itself in the store you bought it from — see section 4. |
| Records we must keep by law | Kept for a limited period only, where fraud prevention, a dispute, or a legal duty requires it. |
This matches section 5 of our Privacy Policy, in more detail.
4. Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your Addola account does not cancel your subscription. Google Play or Apple holds the subscription, not us, so we cannot cancel it for you. You keep being billed until you cancel it there.
Cancel it before you delete your account.
- Google Play: open the Play Store, go to Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions, select Addola, and cancel. Google's guide is at support.google.com/googleplay.
- Apple: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select Addola, and cancel. Apple's guide is at support.apple.com.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us. See section 4 of our Terms of Service.
